The short version
We earn commission when you buy through links on this site. It costs you nothing extra, and it never affects our scores or recommendations.
That sentence, or one materially identical to it, appears at the top of every page containing an affiliate link — not buried here, and not hidden in the footer.
What that means in practice
Some links on Bedroom Tested are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway.
What commission does not buy
This is the part that matters, so we will be specific.
- It does not buy a score. Scores come from the fixed rubric described in How We Test, applied identically to every product.
- It does not buy a placement. Rankings in our guides reflect test results, not commission rates.
- It does not buy a review. We do not accept payment to review a product, and we never have.
- It does not buy silence. We publish low scores for products we earn commission on. If a product is bad, we say so and link to it anyway, because you deserve to know before you buy.
We recommend products with no affiliate programme, and products we earn nothing from, whenever they are the right answer. We would rather lose a sale than lose your trust — and commercially, the second is worth far more than the first.
How products reach us
Every review states whether the unit was bought at retail or supplied by the brand. Where a brand supplies a unit, it carries no conditions: no advance sight of the review, no approval rights, no ability to request changes.
Prices
Prices shown are those we saw at the retailer on the date stated in the review. Prices change, stock moves, and offers expire. Always check the price on the retailer’s own page before buying — that is the price that applies, not ours.
Why we tell you this
Two reasons. First, it is the law: in the United States the Federal Trade Commission requires material connections between a reviewer and a seller to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously; in the United Kingdom the CAP Code and consumer protection regulations require advertising to be obviously identifiable as advertising.
Second, and more to the point: a review site that hides how it makes money is not worth reading. You should know exactly whose interests are in play when you read a recommendation.
